Copyright and License Statement
Immortalis Journal of Health Law and Public Policy (IJHLPP) respects the intellectual property rights of authors and is committed to maintaining transparent and fair copyright and licensing practices. The journal recognizes that scholarly publications should protect authors' ownership while facilitating the dissemination, accessibility, and responsible reuse of academic knowledge. The following provisions establish the copyright and licensing arrangements applicable to all articles published in IJHLPP.
1. Copyright Ownership
Authors retain the copyright of their published articles, including the original ideas, research findings, arguments, analyses, and other scholarly contributions presented in their manuscripts. Publication in IJHLPP does not transfer copyright ownership from authors to the journal or publisher.
By accepting publication in IJHLPP, authors grant the journal the right of first publication and a non-exclusive right to publish, reproduce, distribute, display, and preserve their articles in electronic and other applicable formats. This arrangement enables the journal to disseminate scholarly work while allowing authors to retain ownership of their intellectual contributions.
2. Publication License
All articles published in IJHLPP are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0), unless otherwise explicitly stated.
This license permits readers, researchers, institutions, and other users to:
-
Share and redistribute published materials in any medium or format.
-
Copy, reproduce, and distribute articles for academic or other lawful purposes.
-
Adapt, translate, remix, and build upon published works.
-
Use published materials for commercial and non-commercial purposes.
These activities are permitted provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), the initial publication in IJHLPP is acknowledged, a link to the license is provided, and any modifications are clearly indicated. Users may not impose additional legal or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising the rights granted under the license.
The complete terms of the license are available at Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International.
3. Rights and Responsibilities of Authors
IJHLPP encourages authors to maximize the visibility and accessibility of their research through responsible scholarly dissemination. Authors may share and deposit their published articles in institutional repositories, personal websites, academic networking platforms, and other appropriate scholarly communication channels without requiring additional permission from the journal, provided that the applicable licensing conditions are respected.
When redistributing their work, authors are encouraged to include the following publication information:
-
The full names of the author(s).
-
The original article title.
-
The journal name: Immortalis Journal of Health Law and Public Policy (IJHLPP).
-
Publication year, volume, issue, and page numbers or article identifier, where applicable.
-
The article DOI or official publication URL, where available.
-
A reference to the applicable Creative Commons license.
Authors may also reuse their own published work in subsequent academic publications, teaching materials, books, and other scholarly activities, provided that the original publication is appropriately acknowledged and the relevant licensing conditions are observed.
4. Third-Party Materials and Permissions
Authors are responsible for ensuring that all materials incorporated into their manuscripts comply with applicable copyright and intellectual property requirements. This includes photographs, illustrations, tables, figures, maps, instruments, and other content originating from third-party sources.
Where permission is required, authors must obtain written authorization from the relevant copyright holders before publication. Proper acknowledgment and source attribution must also be provided.
Materials that are subject to separate copyright or licensing conditions are not automatically covered by the CC BY 4.0 license applied to the article as a whole. Any such exclusions or additional restrictions should be clearly identified in the published work to avoid ambiguity regarding their permitted use.
5. Licensing Transparency and Publication Commitment
IJHLPP is committed to ensuring that copyright ownership and licensing information are clearly communicated to authors, readers, and other users of its publications. The applicable license will be identified on the journal website and, where appropriate, within the published article to facilitate proper attribution and reuse.
Through this policy, Immortalis Journal of Health Law and Public Policy (IJHLPP) seeks to establish a publishing environment that balances the protection of intellectual property with the principles of open scholarly communication. The journal believes that retaining authors' copyright while providing clear and accessible reuse permissions can strengthen academic collaboration, increase research visibility, and support the international exchange of knowledge in health law and public policy.
